Orthotics for Snow Sports

If you are looking forward to the 2010/11 snow season, have you thought about reflecting on last years performance and ask yourself some questions…………….

1. Were my feet comfortable in my boots?
2. Was I fit enough to enjoy the white stuff and rip up the corduroy?

Skiing or boarding in the wrong or ill-fitting boots can present many physical issues not to mention ruining your hard earned holiday.  Imagine the shape of your foot and then the shape of a hard plastic boot - do they both marry up to form an exact fit? if you ski or board regularly then it may be worth your while buying your own boots and having an Orthotic fitted to marry up the differences of foot and ski boot to make them one unit.  Do this and observe the difference in your skiing or boarding ability, not to mention your comfort and ultimately enjoyment.

Do you have ski or boarding lessons or want to progress your skiing generally - many people have lessons in an attempt to better themselves?  We believe that the biggest restrictions to progression are the inherent limitations of our bodies (for example flexibility and strength). Sort these out and your body will be able to achieve what it is being asked.

That’s where our own Orthotics and Biomechanics Department can help you.  Just as you would go to your dentist for a regular check up to prevent long term problems, we are here to support you to keep injury free and comfortable whilst you go about enjoying your skiing.

We can guide you through a full MOT for skiing and at the end of your assessment we will understand your needs. Whether they are  Flexibility/Strength/Biomechanically led issues we can offer you a programme for change.

The assessment will take the following form:

  • Consultation to take your history & experience of skiing and current exercise regime
  • Video Gait Assessment
    • Barefoot
  • Pressure Plate Assessment
    • Barefoot
    • With Ski Boots on (if you have them)
  • Full feedback on video & pressure assessments
  • Ski Speciific Flexibility & Postural  Assessment & programme for change

What you may like to bring with you:

  • Shorts/leggings/tracksuit trousers (so that we can see from the knees downwards (it is possible to roll the trousers up)
  • Current ski boots (essential if you are experiencing issues whilst skiing)

Fees for consultation and treatment
