20 Questions – Carl

- What is your biggest fitness achievement?
Historical – Coming 2nd to Mark Foster (former Olympian) in a swimming event
General – Earning my Green Beret with HM Royal Marines
Recent – Completing Ironman Lanzarotte
- If you could only do one sport for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably Yoga or TaiChi – after all, you don’t typically require much space, any specific equipment, the health benefits are numerous… and they’ve both been around for millennia (how can you argue with that).
- What is your favourite toy?
Erm…. I try not to have favourite toys… especially after seeing how upset Woody (the cowboy from Toy Story) was when Buzz Lightyear was adopted into the toy family circle!
- What is your next big fitness challenge?
Still TBC – but would like to do another IronMan (injury free this time) and or some other type of endurance based event.
- What is your favourite charity?
Tough one, as there are far too many great causes to choose from – but typically Cancer Research and Help for Heroes.
- How would you distribute your lottery winnings?
Depends – was my winning lottery ticket a 3 x number win (ie: typically equivalent to around a few pounds – in which case, I might splurge out on a celebratory box of doughnuts for my work colleagues) – otherwise, probably the usual, friends family and no doubt a wee bit of philanthropy thrown in for good measure
- Who do you most admire?
My poor wife, family and friends…. after all, they have to put up with me!
- Describe your relationship with food?
Healthy – but otherwise… see it… eat it and then work it off!
- Are you in a relationship?
Yes… with my loving wife
- What bores you?
Reality TV… which is why I’m either training, fixing something or washing my hair whenever its on.
- What inspires you?
People following their dreams; Harry’s Heroes (a TV program showing how some seriously wounded service personnel were overcoming their injuries in order to trek to the pole); Major Phil Packer – who has successfully completed some HUGE mental and physical feats following his traumatic injuries.
- What trainers do you wear?
To run = Newtons ; To work = whichever trainer comes to hand when i reach into the wardrobe

Errrrm… Water, if its good enough for Lions and Tigers, its good enough for me
- Favourite famous sporting moment?
Watching the 2000 Sydney Olympics… whilst in Sydney
- What was your last formal qualification?
B.Sc (Hons) Physiotherapy
- What has been your best overseas trip?
Aside from having had an amazing Wedding in South Africa with trips to wineries, game reserves and a honeymoon in Mauritius – my time traveling around the world seeing Japan, Hong Kong, Hawaii, New Zealand and having lived in Sydney Australia during the 2000 Olympics (what a fantastic experience!)
- Do you own a bicycle?
Yes… x 2 (my lovely S2 Cevelo Road Bike… and a Giant Anthem X2 MTB for zipping around off road)
- What question do you wish you’d been asked?
Question: What’s your ideal job? Answer: I’m doing it!
