Advanced Gait Assessment

Running is a complex activity.  It relies on the integration of many components such as strength, flexibility, balance and co-ordination throughout the whole of the body. One area that is generally disregarded is the feet (once the shoe is put on that is). The feet help to set the foundation for how the rest of the body reacts during and weight/load bearing activity. If the feet are not stable, the rest of the body will suffer.

It is important to get yourself in the right shoe, sometimes by just standing on the floor or walking up and down a shop and observing what your feet are doing is not sufficient. With more and more people buying through the Internet, we are finding an increase in people wearing the wrong shoe.

By having our Advanced Gait Assessment, we will be able to give you an indepth understanding as to what your biomechanical needs are(i.e. high/low arch, pronating/supinating foot, pelvic stability), the type of sport shoe you may need and any flexibility or strength issues you may have.

The assessment will take the following form:

  • Consultation to take history of injury and current exercise regime
  • Video Gait Assessment
    • With Shoes on
    • Barefoot
  • Pressure Plate Assessment
    • Barefoot
  • Full feedback on video & pressure assessments
  • Flexibility Assessment & programme for change

What you may like to bring with you:

  • Shorts/leggings/tracksuit trousers (so that we can see from the knees downwards (it is possible to roll the trousers up)
  • Current sports footwear (essential if you are experiencing issues whilst training)
